1. How did you get the name for your Wrock band?
Let me tell you, it's a lot harder to name a wrock band than you might think. All of the cool names that I came up with were already taken! So I had to think a little harder...I asked myself "What would I want to be if I really DID live in the world of Harry Potter?" It finally came down to either a Hufflepuff curse breaker... or a goblin that fed the dragons in the dark depths of Gringotts. And, as fond as I am of dragons... I decided on The Curse Breakers! ;)
2. Who are all the members of your band and what does each of them play?
I write and compose my own songs! When I start doing live shows with a full band here in Southern California, I have an awesome guitarist named Jon who will play lead. For now a couple of fellow HP book lovers have volunteered to sit in as needed until I find a permanent bassist and drummer. Jon will also play with me for my acoustic shows.
3. What is your hometown?
I live in sunny southern California. In the Santa Clarita Valley to be exact! I'm right over the hill from Hollywood!
4. What is your favorite Wrock song performed by your own WRock band? Why that particular song?
Hmmmm... As of right now, I'd have to say that Full Moon is the most fun song to sing. I can really sink my teeth into it! ;) It's very theatrical and wild, and while I haven't performed it live yet, I have a feeling when I do it'll be a crowd favorite too! I can't wait to get everybody howling!
5. Besides yourself, what is your other favorite WRock band? Why them?
All wrock bands are special to me! I really appreciate how much heart and soul is put into their music, plus all their songs are about Harry Potter. It's just impossible for me to choose! (Okay! okay! Even I can get a little fanatical! The Remus Lupins are freakin' awesome! What can I say, I was a teenage werewolf too! <3 )
6. Who inspired you to become a Wrock band and why?
I have my friends Richard and Ambrosia to thank! I was really bummed out, not having another HP book to look forward to. And like everyone else, I mourned the series' end. But my form of mourning was more of an annoying Moaning Myrtle sort of wailing! They got sick of it quick, hit me with a Happy Hex, and turned me on to wizard rock!
7. Who are your musical influences?
In general, I love the girl-power of Gwen Stefani, the theatrics of Queen and the moodiness of Bush. I admittedly have a bit of a dark side, and I get compared to Amy Lee of Evanescence alot. Rock music from the 80's is hard for me to resist. Tough question! Bottom line: I like any music as long as it's good!
8. I assume you have read all the HP books, correct? So, which is your favorite?
I read them all like a ravenous Blast-Ended Skrewt! I can hardly believe it's been ten years since I first read Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone... I decided to read them all again!
My favorite is definitely Deathly Hollows. I feel like JK really threw everything that she had at this last book-- sort of a swan song, her grande finale! And it shows. I loved the whole Harry Potter series, but the final tome reminded me exactly why I loved it so much. Rich characters, in-depth plots... Bravery and wit, caring and magic! Deathly Hallows was a masterpiece. I finished it in nearly a day! Totally disregarding the time that I needed to wake up in the morning, just to make it to the end. (Am I the only one who wants to know what happened between the 'end' and the epilogue? ;-;)
9. I heard you have a Wrock Store, what is available there?
I am a very creative little creature and decided, for fun, to open The Curse Breakers Christmas Shop just for the holidays. It was filled with lots of original jewelry designs, plus owl ornaments. Everything designed by me and my mom, and all inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter. The store was to close after Christmas, but seeing as how many Potterholics seem to be shopoholics as well, we've decided to keep the store open longer. Curse Breaker swag will be added and a part of the store's proceeds will be donated to a worthy cause!
10. Do you have any songs availale for download?
If so, which ones?
Dobby's Christmas Wish has been available free to download. My other songs are available on MySpace through SnoCap!
11. Have you performed for any Wrock conferences or conventions?
If you did, how was it and what did you do there?
As a brand new band I haven't had the opportunity to perform at any conferences or conventions yet. Hopefully I will in the future. I can't wait to meet other wrock bands and fans in person!
12. Is there any time soon a tour might be coming? Or shows perhaps?
I
just need to write a couple more songs and I'll be ready to do some local shows. I've been invited to tour back east later this year and I'm going to try my best to make it happen!
13. What is the craziest thing that a fan did for you?
Well it's more like what *fans* have done for me! Seems I've inspired cauldron-fulls of fanart! I love how wrock music brings out other forms of creativity besides making music. Check out The Curse Breakers MySpace and you'll see what I mean!
14. Any new songs coming out? Or CDs?
Songs about Cho, Teddy, Snape and Lilly, The Mirror of Erisad, and wrockin' witch power are all in the works! They'll be coming out soon on CD or for download through SnoCap at: MySpace.com/TheCurseBreakers.
In the meantime an autographed Cd, with original artwork, featuring The Curse Breakers first songs is available!
15. What advice do you have for any new Wrock bands coming out?
Go for it! I'm a newbie, and I know first hand how much encouragement and support awaits your music. Imagination and creativity is a large part of what wrock music is all about!Plus wrock fans are the best!
Be sure to keep me posted, I'd love to hear!
