November Band of the Month is Oliver Boyd & the Remembralls

1.I know you get this alot but how did you get your name of your band?

A: I do get asked this question a lot lol. I think it's because Oliver Boyd isn't a character from the books, so people wonder where it comes from. The truth is that it was just a name I thought sounded like it could be the name of a student at Hogwarts. The 'Remembralls' part came about because I had just watched the first movie where Neville gets his remembrall. It also rings true with me personally because I can never remember lyrics.

2.How many band member are there?

A: I'm actually the sole member for OBatR. I write, record, and play all the parts. I started this "band" as a fun side project from my regular music, and it's turned into something larger than I thought it ever would.

3.What advice do you have for the New Wrock Band that are coming out today?

A: The only advice I could give would be to do it because you love the series and want to share and connect with other fans. Don't worry about recording quality or playing ability. This whole wizard rock movement is about having fun. :)

4.What is your favorite Muggle and Wrock Band? And Why?

A: That's a very hard question. I can't say that I have any one favorite band. Growing up motown, soul, funk and jazz were my influences though. Stevie Wonder is probably the closest to my favorite muggle musician. As for wrock, I don't have a favorite, though I am blown away by the passion that Brian and Bradley from Draco and the Malfoy's have. I've met Brian a few times and he really is the best representation of what wizard rock and this whole fandom is all about.

5.Where do wrock Fans buy your Cd's?

A: My albums are currently 'Out Of Stock' though I'm working on getting them both back up shortly. When they are for sale, they're sold via paypal links on my myspace page.Though if anyone can't wait for the physical copies of the album to be back in stock, they can always purchase and download the MP3 versions over at my SoundClick store which sells the albums (and individual songs) exactly like music is sold on iTunes. The direct link to the online store is:http://www.soundclick.com/Store/byArtist.cfm?bandID=613405

6.Did you go to POTTER ROCK or any other WRock Concerts or conventions?

A: Over the summer I attended Prophecy 2007 which was convienently located in my own city of Toronto. It was definitely a great experience and was my first chance to meet a lot of the awesome people and other bands. Also, this October I was fortunate enough to go to Wrockstock in Missouri. Everyone there was so amazing and we all had a great time. I can't wait until they do it again next year (fingers crossed).

7.Do you have Band T-Shirts? If so how much do they cost, and where do wrock Fans Buy them?

A: Unfortunately I don't. I've never been creative when it comes to t-shirt design and such, but I am working on getting some apparel made. When it available I'll definitely blog about it on my myspace.

8.Is there any tours coming or shows that wrock Fans need to know?

A: Sadly because I live in Canada, and because of my hectic school and future work schedule, I don't have the ability to tour or play many shows. Maybe someday, but as of right now it's not a possibility.

9.What is the craziest thing that a fan did for you? If so what was it?

A: I haven't had any 'crazy' things happen really, but something that was utterly fantastic was that I had a fan (and friend) give me a hand-made pillow that had my name on one side and a guitar on the other. It's amazingly done. :)

10. Any new songs or Cd's coming out in the near future?

A: I don't have any solid plans for releasing another CD, though I'm sure it'll happen eventually. I released two albums in an 8 month period, so I figured I earned a break from writing and recording :)
